Cleveland’s East Side Revitalization Project Secures $20 Million GrantCleveland’s East Side Revitalization Project Secures $20 Million Grant The City of Cleveland has secured a $20 million federal grant for its East Side Revitalization Project, a transformative initiative aimed at revitalizing the historic and underserved neighborhoods of the city’s East Side. The grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), will fund the construction of new affordable housing units, improve public infrastructure, and support economic development in the targeted neighborhoods. “This grant is a game-changer for the East Side,” said Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb. “It will allow us to invest in the community, create jobs, and provide safe and affordable housing for our residents.” The East Side Revitalization Project is a comprehensive plan to address the challenges faced by neighborhoods such as Central, Kinsman, and Glenville. The project includes: * Construction of 150 new affordable housing units: These units will be a mix of single-family homes, multi-family apartments, and senior housing. * Rehabilitation of existing housing: The project will provide grants and loans to homeowners to help them make repairs and upgrades to their properties. * Improvements to public infrastructure: The grant will fund the paving of roads, installation of sidewalks and streetlights, and construction of new parks and green spaces. * Economic development initiatives: The project will support the creation of small businesses, job training programs, and entrepreneurship opportunities. “We are committed to building a more equitable and prosperous Cleveland, and this project is a key part of that effort,” said Mayor Bibb. “We are grateful to HUD for their support and look forward to working with our community partners to make this vision a reality.” The East Side Revitalization Project is a collaboration between the City of Cleveland, the Cleveland Housing Network, and dozens of community organizations. The project is expected to create hundreds of jobs and attract private investment to the area.
