Upon arrival, officers observed a man, later identified as 32-year-old John Smith, removing golf balls from the facility’s ball dispenser. Officers approached Smith and asked him about the balls, to which he initially responded that they were his. However, upon further questioning, Smith admitted to stealing them and claimed he intended to sell them online. Police counted a total of 37 golf balls in Smith’s possession, which had an estimated value of approximately $120. Smith was subsequently arrested and charged with theft.
