Columbus: Man Arrested for Stealing 37 Golf Balls from Driving RangeColumbus: Man Arrested for Stealing 37 Golf Balls from Driving Range Columbus, Ohio – A Columbus man has been arrested for allegedly stealing 37 golf balls from a driving range on Thursday night. According to police, officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at the city’s Driving Range just before midnight. Upon arrival, officers observed a man, later identified as 32-year-old John Smith, removing golf balls from the facility’s ball dispenser. Officers approached Smith and asked him about the balls, to which he initially responded that they were his. However, upon further questioning, Smith admitted to stealing them and claimed he intended to sell them online. Police counted a total of 37 golf balls in Smith’s possession, which had an estimated value of approximately $120. Smith was subsequently arrested and charged with theft. The owner of the driving range expressed frustration over the incident, stating that such thefts cost the business a significant amount of money over time. “These golf balls are expensive, and when they’re stolen, it affects our ability to provide a quality experience for our customers,” he said. Smith was transported to the Franklin County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of securing property and reporting suspicious activity to the authorities.
