Entitled “Albany Waterfront Vision,” the plan outlines a range of initiatives to enhance the city’s waterfront and create a thriving, 21st-century waterfront district. Key elements of the plan include: * Creating a continuous pedestrian and bike path: The plan proposes extending the existing Mohawk Hudson Bike-Hike Trail along the Hudson River, connecting the waterfront to downtown and other neighborhoods. * Developing new waterfront parks and open spaces: A series of new parks and plazas will be created along the riverfront, offering scenic views, recreational opportunities, and public gathering spaces. * Enhancing existing waterfront amenities: Existing waterfront facilities, such as the Albany Yacht Club and the Palace Theatre, will be upgraded and expanded to meet the needs of the community. * Promoting economic development: The plan identifies opportunities for residential, commercial, and industrial development along the waterfront, creating jobs and adding to the local tax base. * Protecting and preserving the environment: The plan incorporates measures to protect and enhance the natural beauty and ecology of the waterfront, including habitat restoration and shoreline stabilization. “Our waterfront is one of Albany’s greatest assets, and we are committed to transforming it into a vibrant and accessible destination for all,” Mayor Sheehan said. “This plan will create a waterfront district where people can live, work, play, and enjoy the beauty of our natural surroundings.” The Albany Waterfront Vision plan has received广泛的支持来自当地居民、企业和组织。该计划的实施预计将分阶段进行,第一阶段将于 2023 年开始。 “We are excited about the potential of this plan to revitalize Albany’s waterfront and create a new destination for our residents and visitors,” said Albany Common Council President Corey Ellis. “This is a bold and ambitious plan, and we are committed to working with the Mayor and our community partners to make it a reality.” The Albany Waterfront Vision plan is available on the City of Albany website at www.albanyny.gov.
