Hamtramck, MI Approves Plan for Midwest’s Largest Indoor Pickleball CourtHamtramck, MI Approves Plan for Midwest’s Largest Indoor Pickleball Court Hamtramck, Michigan has taken a significant step in becoming the pickleball hub of the Midwest with the City Council’s approval of a plan to build the region’s largest indoor pickleball court. The proposed facility, measuring an impressive 50,000 square feet, will feature 12 dedicated pickleball courts, making it the largest indoor court of its kind in the region. The state-of-the-art court will be located in a former manufacturing building in Hamtramck’s industrial district. “This project is a game-changer for pickleball in Michigan and beyond,” said Hamtramck Mayor Karen Majewski. “It will attract players from all over the Midwest, providing a world-class facility for this rapidly growing sport.” Pickleball, a fusion of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, has seen a surge in popularity in recent years. The sport is particularly appealing to older adults and those looking for a low-impact but highly competitive activity. The indoor pickleball court in Hamtramck will offer a year-round playing surface, eliminating weather-related interruptions. It will also feature amenities such as locker rooms, a pro shop, and a spectator area. The project is being spearheaded by Pickleball, Inc., a Hamtramck-based company that has been at the forefront of the pickleball boom in the city. The company has already secured funding for the facility and is expected to begin construction later this year. “We are thrilled to bring this incredible asset to Hamtramck,” said Pickleball, Inc. CEO Mark Griffin. “This facility will not only provide a great place for people to play pickleball but also serve as a catalyst for economic development in the city.” The construction of the indoor pickleball court is expected to create numerous jobs in Hamtramck and attract visitors from across the Midwest, boosting local businesses and the city’s economy.
