The restoration, estimated to cost around $15 million, will focus on preserving the museum’s original 1894 brick building, restoring the iconic Louisville Slugger bat sign, and upgrading the exhibits and interactive experiences. “This restoration is essential to ensuring the long-term preservation of this cherished landmark,” said Andy Graves, president and CEO of Hillerich & Bradsby, the company that produces Louisville Slugger bats. “We want to preserve its legacy for future generations and continue to provide an immersive and unforgettable experience for our visitors.” The project will include: * Structural repairs to the brick building, including repointing and waterproofing * Restoration of the Louisville Slugger bat sign, which will be repainted and equipped with new LED lighting * Modernization of the exhibits, with interactive displays, augmented reality experiences, and new artifacts * Creation of new educational and community spaces, including a rooftop terrace and a dedicated space for school field trips The restoration is expected to take several years to complete, with phased reopenings of the museum and factory throughout the project. The first phase, which includes structural repairs and sign restoration, is scheduled to begin in 2023. “This investment not only ensures the preservation of our city’s iconic landmarks but also contributes to our vibrant tourism industry,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “We are proud to support this project and look forward to continuing to celebrate the legacy of Louisville Slugger for years to come.” The Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory has been a popular tourist destination for decades, attracting visitors from around the world.
