San Diego Shocked By Rare TornadoSan Diego Shocked By Rare Tornado San Diego, California – A rare and unexpected tornado touched down in the San Diego area on Sunday, causing widespread damage and leaving residents stunned. The tornado, classified as an EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, struck the community of Lakeside around 4:30 p.m. It left a path of destruction over a quarter-mile wide and a mile long. Witnesses described seeing a funnel cloud descending from the sky and tearing through homes, businesses, and trees. Roofs were torn off, windows shattered, and power lines downed. The tornado also uprooted large trees, blocking roadways and crushing vehicles. “It was like something out of a movie,” said resident Susan Roberts. “I couldn’t believe my eyes.” According to the National Weather Service (NWS), tornadoes are extremely rare in San Diego County. The last one on record occurred in 1986. “This is a very unusual event for our area,” said NWS meteorologist David Sweet. “We’re still trying to determine what caused it.” Emergency responders rushed to the scene and evacuated residents from the affected area. Several people were reported injured, but there were no fatalities. “We are thankful that no one was seriously hurt,” said San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore. “Our thoughts are with all those who have been impacted by this storm.” Damage assessments are still underway, but initial estimates suggest that the tornado caused millions of dollars in damage. Power crews are working to restore electricity to the affected area, but it could take several days. The tornado has left the San Diego community shaken and reminded residents of the importance of being prepared for unexpected weather events. “We never thought something like this could happen here,” said resident Michael Jones. “It’s a wake-up call.”
