The incident, reported just before 4:30 p.m., involved a Nissan and a Honda. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles. The Nissan Altima driver required airlifting to receive treatment for traumatic injuries sustained in the crash. The female driver of the Honda was transported to Moore Regional Hospital for medical attention. Significant damage to the front of the Nissan and the rear passenger side of the Honda was evident. Pinehurst, N.C. – A driver was airlifted to the hospital following a collision with a Pinehurst police cruiser on Tuesday afternoon. The wreck occurred at the intersection of US-15/501 and Midland Road around 4:30 p.m. The police cruiser was responding to a call when it collided with a Toyota Camry. The driver of the Camry, identified as 25-year-old John Doe, was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. He was airlifted to WakeMed with serious injuries. The police officer, identified as Officer Jane Doe, was not injured. The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
