This unprecedented surge marks a 13% increase compared to the previous high set in 2021. The remarkable performance is attributed to a combination of factors, including the city’s post-pandemic recovery, the influx of new tourists, and the expansion of gaming offerings. Slot machines, which account for the majority of casino revenue, generated $8.3 billion, while table games contributed $5.9 billion. Baccarat, in particular, saw significant growth, driven by the increasing popularity among Asian high rollers. “Las Vegas is truly back and stronger than ever,” declared Bill Miller, CEO of the American Gaming Association. “The record gaming revenue is a testament to the resilience of the industry and the city’s enduring appeal as a global destination.” Clark County, which encompasses Las Vegas, also witnessed a surge in tourism with 42.3 million visitors recorded in 2022. The return of major conventions, concerts, and sporting events played a vital role in boosting visitation and gaming revenue. The Venetian and Palazzo resorts led the way with combined gaming revenue exceeding $1.3 billion. Other notable performers included the Bellagio, MGM Grand, and Wynn Las Vegas. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman expressed her delight at the city’s success. “This is a historic moment for Las Vegas,” she said. “It shows that our investments in our infrastructure, tourism promotion, and resident well-being are paying off.” The record gaming revenue is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, generating tax revenue and creating jobs. It also reinforces Las Vegas’s position as the undisputed gambling hub of the United States. As Las Vegas gears up for 2023, the industry remains optimistic about sustained growth. New developments, such as the upcoming Resorts World Las Vegas North Strip and the MSG Sphere at The Venetian, are poised to further enhance the city’s offerings and attract even more visitors.
