On Sunday, October 20, a tragic incident occurred at Sokoban Wood Village in Kumasi when a single-story building collapsed, resulting in the death of one person and the rescue of three others.

The collapse occurred in the early morning hours and the victims were construction workers.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said a crew from the Kejetia Fire Station quickly responded to a distress call at 2:45 a.m.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collapse to determine whether safety protocols were violated.

In its statement, the GNFS urged construction companies and workers to strictly adhere to safety measures, stressing the importance of such precautions in preventing future tragedies.

“The quick reaction of our team saved the lives of three people. However, this tragic event is a stark reminder of the need to follow safety protocols in all construction projects to prevent similar incidents in the future,” the GNFS said.
