VINELAND – Problems maintaining pressure in municipal water lines have forced Inspira Medical Center Vineland to cancel elective procedures, the hospital system confirmed Friday.
Spokeswoman Christine Skiffington said the city has implemented mandatory restrictions on irrigation and all nonessential water use at the hospital’s request.
City Hall was closed for the June bank holiday and a city spokesperson could not immediately confirm that mandatory restrictions are now in place.
“Everyone in our region can help improve the well-being of our patients by reducing their water use,” said Inspira President Amy Mansue.
She also expressed her gratitude to Vineland Mayor Fanucci “for his cooperation, leadership and support.”

According to the hospital, water pressure hovered at lower than normal levels Thursday night.
“We have, in an abundance of caution, postponed our elective procedures until the water supply has stabilized,” Skiffington said. ++“We have purchased water tankers and these are on site for additional use. These proactive steps allow us to prioritize essential medical services and maintain a reliable water supply for all patients.
“Patients affected by these changes will be contacted by their provider’s office to reschedule appointments accordingly,” Skiffington said.
“We are actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available,” she said.
Vineland asked residents earlier this week to voluntarily reduce water use, citing high demand during a heat wave.
