PAROWAN – A 74-year-old glider pilot escaped with minor injuries Monday after making an emergency landing in a sagebrush field near Parowan, officials said.
Lt. Iron County Sheriff’s Office Jeff Humphries said the incident occurred shortly before noon and the first call came in at 11:59 a.m.
“He got too low and couldn’t get his length up to make it to the runway and decided to put him down in the field just east of the old Paragonah highway,” Humphries told the Cedar City News. “He landed and slid about 200 feet.”
“They took him to hospital but it was only minor injuries,” he added.
