Mount Congreve Gardens in Kilmeaden, Co. Waterford has been officially designated as a Partner Garden by the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland (RHSI).

The RHSI selects partner gardens that exemplify high standards in design and planting, and provide inspiration for gardeners.

This addition follows major redevelopment efforts at Mount Congreve, aimed at reintroducing the garden to plant lovers and garden enthusiasts across the country.

The RHSI said: “Very rightly helping to bring Mount Congreve back into the wider attention of plant enthusiasts and gardeners across the country.”

The association highlighted the garden’s extensive trails and paths, which span 16 km and offer visitors the opportunity to explore 70 hectares of diverse flora from around the world.

The garden’s succession flowering varieties ensure constant blooming, creating a magical experience for visitors all year round, according to the organization.

RHSI discussed the importance of public support to maintain the garden’s status and encourage visitors to explore the garden, shop and café.

“Mount Congreve should forever be a jewel in Ireland’s collection of great gardens, but only we, the public, can keep it that way by supporting it. So visit the gardens this summer and enjoy the excellent shop and café,” said RHSI.

CEO of Mount Congreve Gardens, Sarah Dolan, spoke highly of the partnership: “It is very fitting for Mount Congreve Gardens, given its position as a global garden and the heritage of Ambrose Congreve and the RHS.

“We are so grateful to our dedicated garden team who continue to nurture, care for and develop these beautiful gardens all year round,” she said.

Dolan also highlighted the new opportunities the partnership brings, including the ability to share news and develop tours with the RHSI membership group.

The gardens are featured on the RHS website, app and handbook, further bringing this ‘beautiful global garden’ to a wider audience.

Mount Congreve is open all year round and offers a variety of tours and experiences, including the Herman Dool Guided Tour and the Garden Buggy Loop for people with limited mobility.

The garden joins 220 other RHS partner gardens across the UK and beyond, which offer free entry to RHS members at certain times.
