An 8-year-old boy seriously injured in the mass shooting at Brooklands Plaza water play park in Rochester Hills was released from the hospital Friday, authorities said.

On June 15, a suspect, later identified as William Michael Nash, 42, of Shelby Township, opened fire on families at the splash pad, wounding nine people. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after the mass shooting, police said.

Earlier, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard and a GoFundMe for the 8-year-old victim (whose name has not been released) said the boy had been shot in the head. He is now resting comfortably at home, the sheriff’s office confirmed in a news release Saturday.

Most of the other victims were released a week after the shooting, but only two victims remain in the hospital at this time: a 30-year-old woman who was seriously injured, and a 39-year-old Rochester Hills woman, the mother of the 8-year-old girl, who was seriously injured while trying to shield her children from the shooter.
