BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Judge Melanie Chase sentenced 62-year-old Leekhan Bryan to life in state prison after a Seminole County jury convicted him on June 25, 2024, of first-degree murder, kidnapping, armed burglary of a habitation, grand larceny, grand larceny of a vehicle and tampering with evidence for the brutal 2021 killing of 62-year-old Trevor Morrison.
In a five-day trial with evidence presented by Assistant District Attorneys Stewart Stone and Jacob Polk, the jury deliberated for just over three hours before returning guilty verdicts that qualified Bryan for a possible death penalty. After a two-day hearing in which prosecutors presented evidence supporting five aggravating factors, the jury found those factors proven but recommended a sentence of life in prison.
Judge Chase then imposed a life sentence for murder, kidnapping and armed burglary of a habitation, along with five years for each of the other charges, all to be served concurrently.
After the verdict, prosecutors thanked the Longwood Police Department for their tireless investigative efforts, which were instrumental in obtaining the conviction and bringing justice on behalf of Mr. Morrison and his family.
Bryan was identified by Longwood police as the person who had assaulted and strangled Trevor Morrison in his home at 315 Heather Avenue, then used the victim’s car to drive the body to Brevard County and dump it in the Banana River.
Bryan was arrested in Osceola County while still driving the victim’s car.
After the conviction, Bryan was returned to the Seminole County Jail and will be transferred to the Department of Corrections to serve his sentence.
