Turkey, however, has shown flashes of brilliance and will be keen to upset the Dutch. We expect an entertaining match with plenty of action, but the Netherlands are slight favorites to advance to the semi-finals. Head-to-Head History * Netherlands wins: 5 * Turkey wins: 3 * Draws: 1 Odds * Netherlands to reach semi-finals: 1/4 * Turkey to reach semi-finals: 14/5 Analysis The Netherlands have been inconsistent at times during the tournament but have shown their quality in their win over Austria. Turkey has also been up and down but has shown a lot of potential. This match could go either way, but the Netherlands’ experience and talent should give them a slim edge. Conclusion The Netherlands vs Turkey quarter-final promises to be a thrilling and unpredictable encounter. Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses, and the match could go either way. However, the Netherlands will be looking to continue their impressive form and book their place in the semi-finals.

The Dutch made relatively easy work of Romania on Tuesday evening. After a difficult start, they won 3-0 in Munich and reached the round of 16.

It was a strong performance by Ronald Koeman’s team. Last week, Austria was surprised by a 0-0 draw against France, but Poland won in the final phase. Eventually, the team advanced to the last sixteen, as one of the four best players in third place of the tournament.

It is a four-day turnaround for them and opponent Turkey, as they have reached the quarter-finals of a major international tournament for the first time since 2008.

The winners of this match will face the winners of the England v Switzerland clash from Düsseldorf in the semi-finals in the so-called ‘easier’ part of the draw for Euro 2024.

Netherlands vs Turkey team news

Koeman took a gamble by starting Steven Bergwijn against Romania, but that had little effect. He replaced the player at half-time in favour of Malen, who then scored twice and secured his starting place.

That is probably the only change for the Dutch on Saturday. There are no players suspended and his team seems otherwise stable, with no significant new injuries.

Turkey welcomes back influential captain Hakan Calhanoglu and defender Samet Akaydin against the Dutch, after both players were suspended for one match against Austria.

As many as 10 players were at risk of suspension in that match after a particularly irritable final group match against the Czech Republic. Midfielders Orkun Kokcu, who was injured in the closing stages, and Ismail Yuksek both received their second yellow cards of the tournament, meaning they will not be able to play this weekend.

Calhanoglu returns at the expense of Kokcu, but a replacement for Yuksek will be needed. Salih Ozcan from Borussia Dortmund will probably be recalled to play in midfield with Kaan Ayhan.

Netherlands vs Turkey Prediction

It has been difficult to get a good picture of the Netherlands at this tournament so far.

Against Poland they were dominant but wasteful, needing Wout Weghorst to secure victory in the closing stages before seeing a goalless draw against France. However, they could have won again had Xavi Simons’ second-half goal not been controversially disallowed.

Austria’s weaknesses were then fully exposed in a thrilling five-goal match, before they received a real confidence boost after a comfortable win over an admittedly mediocre Romanian team.

It’s hard to say whether we can really count them on the list of contenders, but in this half of the schedule no one can be ruled out of a place in the final.

Turkey were also inconsistent, but showed flashes of enthusiasm, led by talented youngster Arda Guler. They defeated debutant Georgia in a classic, but were then swept aside by Portugal. As a result, they were only able to exploit their numerical advantage late in the match against the Czech Republic, before profiting from a chaotic start against an out-of-form Austria.

We expect a very entertaining match with plenty of action and incident, overshadowed by the Netherlands, with Liverpool’s Gakpo undoubtedly playing a leading role again.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

The Dutch hold a slight lead when it comes to the best head-to-head matches of all time. In September 2021, they beat Turkey 6-1 in their last meeting in World Cup qualifying, with Memphis Depay scoring a hat-trick.

However, Turkey had already won two consecutive matches before that, losing the previous match 6-1 to Austria before taking sweet revenge in Leipzig.
