Odisha Drivers to Work in Japan for Five YearsOdisha Drivers to Work in Japan for Five Years Thirty trained drivers from Odisha will soon embark on a five-year journey to work in Japan. A Japan-based company recruited the drivers from a pool of 180 trained by government-run heavy vehicle driving centers. Most of the selected drivers are graduates. Before departing for Japan, the drivers will undergo training in Bengaluru to improve their Japanese language skills, learn about Japanese culture, and understand Japanese regulations. The state transport department will provide financial assistance of Rs 2.3 lakh per driver for this training. The drivers were congratulated by Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena ahead of their journey to Bengaluru. In addition to the selected drivers, over 4,488 individuals have completed training in heavy vehicle driving at government-run centers in Odisha. An additional 21,964 drivers have received further training for skill development. The government-run centers offer free training, accommodation, and board to trainees, and facilitate the acquisition of driving licenses. Trainees also receive a stipend of Rs 3,000.

Bhubaneswar, July 11: About 30 trained drivers from Odisha will soon start working in Japan for a period of five years.

According to government sources, a Japan-based company had conducted a recruitment drive to hire drivers from Odisha. Around 180 drivers trained by government-run heavy vehicle driving centres participated in the recruitment drive and 30 of them were selected in the first phase, most of them are graduates.

Before going to Japan, these drivers will be trained in Bengaluru in Japanese language, culture and regulations. Their passports and visas will also be arranged. The state transport department will spend around Rs 2.3 lakh per driver on this process.

Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena congratulated the drivers on Wednesday ahead of their journey to Bengaluru.

As many as 4,488 persons have undergone training for driving heavy vehicles at government-run centres at Chhatia in Jajpur, Palur in Ganjam, Bonai in Sundargarh and Keonjhar. Similarly, 21,964 drivers have undergone further training for skill development.

The centres provide free training along with accommodation and board and facilitate the acquisition of driving licence. The government also provides a stipend of Rs 3,000 to the trainees.
