The 50-year-old husband and his 48-year-old wife were staying at the Costa Narejos Hotel in Los Narejos, Murcia.
The couple were returning to the hotel shortly after 11pm on Tuesday evening and were hit by the car as they crossed the road.
The driver, whose name has not been identified, fled.

He was later arrested by police and a breath test showed he was more than three times over the legal limit.
The 23-year-old man, who was driving a Peugeot 406, was arrested with a smashed windshield.
The driver also appeared to be behind the wheel without a driver’s license.
Emergency services treated and stabilized the couple’s condition.

“A caller said the car had driven at high speed across a zebra crossing and witnesses said the two injured tourists spoke English,” an emergency services member told El Espanol.
Located in the Murcia region, Los Narejos is known as “Little England” due to the number of British holidaymakers who visit the holiday destination.
In Murcia, tourists spent a whopping €367.5 million between January and April.

There have been a number of car accidents involving British people in Spain recently.
A four-month-old baby was killed in a tragic accident when a car veered onto the pavement and into a crowd in Lanzarote in March.
However, no further details have been released about the British holidaymakers following Tuesday’s incident.
