Reported Chelsea target Julian Alvarez has told Manchester City he wants to leave the club this summer according to reports in Spain.
The Blues are known to be in the market for a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson, and despite signing teenager Marc Guiu they are believed to still be looking for more fire power as they look to get back into the Champions League next season.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have been linked with a whole host of names throughout Europe this summer, but have yet to decide which striker they want to sign.
Alvarez informs Manchester City he wants to leave the club
The Blues have been linked with the likes of Jhon Duran, Samu Omorodion and Jonathan David but nothing serious has materialised in their pursuit of new forward.
Earlier in the summer Chelsea were linked with a move for City’s World Cup winner, who reportedly wanted to leave the Etihad, but those rumours went quiet.
Chelsea were linked with a move for Alvarez earlier in the summer.
However, according to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito the Argentine has asked to leave the club, and turned down a new contract with improved terms, which would have extended his stay in Manchester until 2028.
The report adds that Alvarez wants City to give him a reasonable selling price, but any potential deal for the 24-year-old wouldn’t be decided until after the Copa America with Argentina set to take on Colombia in the final.
A striker of Alvarez’s quality would certainly make a difference for Chelsea and he’s exactly the sort of player the club should be looking to sign in order to get them back into the Champions League and take them to the next level.

Any potential asking price remains unclear, but given the market it’s likely any fee would be in the region of £70m, whilst wage demands are also unknown.
It seems the Blue’s won’t make a decision on a new striker until after pre-season when they have assessed Guiu and have seen how Nkunku does in the role.
