The Vikings have released a statement acknowledging Addison’s arrest and saying they are gathering more information. Addison played a significant role in the Vikings’ offense during his rookie season, catching 70 passes for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns while filling in for injured star Justin Jefferson.

The California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a vehicle blocking lanes on an interstate just after 11 p.m. local time near Los Angeles International Airport, according to an arrest report obtained by USA TODAY Sports. Officers arrived on the scene to find a white Rolls-Royce blocking a lane of traffic with the driver asleep at the wheel.

“After the DUI investigation was completed, the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI,” the report said.

Addison was arrested just after 11:30 p.m. local time and released two hours later.

The first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft had 70 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in his rookie season, becoming a key factor for the Vikings after star receiver Justin Jefferson missed nearly half the season with injuries.

“We are aware of the arrest of Jordan Addison last Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident,” the Vikings said in a statement.

Before the 2023 season, Addison was cited for reckless driving after reportedly driving 140 miles per hour just before training camp. The 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner said in a statement that he “made a mistake and exercised poor judgment” while driving. The police report of the incident said that Addison “stated that his dog was having an emergency at his residence and that was the reason for his speed.”
