Ammon News – Four people were killed and several others injured in a shooting at a mosque in Muscat, the capital of Oman, police said on Tuesday.
“The Royal Oman Police have responded to a shooting incident that took place near a mosque in the Al-Wadi Al-Kabir area,” police said in a statement.
Police put the initial death toll at four and “several others” injured at the mosque in eastern Muscat.
The US Embassy in Muscat issued a security alert following the shooting and canceled all visa appointments on Tuesday.
“US citizens should remain vigilant, monitor local news and follow the directions of local authorities,” the embassy wrote on the social media platform X.
