The world premiere of the new musical The Fabulist has announced casting for London’s Charing Cross Theatre.
The Fabulist The film stars Dan Smith as Julian, James Paterson as Count Petronius, Stuart Pendred as Cardinal Bandini, Constantine Andronikou as Puppupini, Réka Jónás as Clarice and Lily De La Haye as Cassandra.
Jack Holton will be Julian’s alternate and Marienella Phillips will be Cassandra and Clarice’s alternates.
The musical is inspired by the opera by the Italian composer Giovanni Paisiello The imaginary astrologerand is a fast-paced musical comedy set in Italy in 1929.
The story concerns an illusionist on the run from Mussolini and the Catholic Church. His flight takes him to an unexpected refuge: a bustling film set, where he attracts the attention of a young screenwriter.
Giovanni Paisiello (1740-1816), known for his cheerful, colorful and joyful operettas, was the inspiration for this performance.
The Fabulist combines Paisiello’s colorful operetta music with a new libretto by James Farwell.
The show’s creative team includes director John Walton, musical director and orchestra leader Bobby Goulder, set and costume designer David Shields, lighting designer Fridthjofur Thorsteinsson, sound designer Andrew Johnson, casting director Debbie O’Brien and producer Steven Levy of Charing Cross Theatre Productions.
The Fabulist runs from August 12 to September 21, 2024 at the Charing Cross Theatre in London.
