While cabinet expansions are expected, our unwavering attention remains on driving progress,” he stated. Kamlesh Shah, a four-time MLA, recently defected from Congress to the ruling BJP. Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of expanding his ministry in the near future, saying “our focus now is on development”.

Mr Yadav’s statement comes amid speculation about the induction of newly elected MLA from Amarwara in Chhindwara district, Kamlesh Shah, into his ministry.

“In the first two years of a government, the focus is on development. Such things (expansion of the ministry) happen. But our focus now is on development and only development,” he said.

A four-time MLA, Mr. Shah had switched from Congress to the BJP a few weeks before the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

His resignation from the party had cost the Congress dearly in the last LS elections, in the form of the loss of Chhindwara, which was considered a stronghold of Congress veteran and former chief minister Kamal Nath, to the BJP.

Earlier in the day, Mr Yadav addressed a ‘thanksgiving rally’ in Amarwara to express his gratitude to the voters of the constituency for ensuring the victory of BJP candidate Mr Shah in the by-elections.

Mr Shah was also present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is leaving for Delhi on Tuesday evening after reportedly being summoned by the Central BJP leadership.

He will leave from here to Delhi on a special flight late Tuesday evening.

However, it is not yet known who he will meet during his visit to Delhi.
