The community is invited to attend the next meeting of the El Cerrito Community Council on Thursday, July 18 at the College-Rolando Library, 6600 Montezuma Road.
Individuals should note that this and future ECCC meetings will have a new time: they will begin at 6:30 PM and end at 8:00 PM.
The ECCC meeting time will be adjusted to better align with the library’s internet access, which ends at 8:00 p.m. This will allow Zoom participants to attend the entire meeting.
The main topic of discussion will be: Capital Improvement Projects:
* What a Capital Improvement Project (CIP) is;
* Current CIP projects taking place in El Cerrito, as well as projects on the CIP list that have not yet been funded;
* The City of San Diego’s Annual CIP Process and Funding Sources
* CIP budget, financing and schedule;
* How to add projects to the CIP list.
Capital improvement projects are infrastructure projects that benefit the community, such as repairing and/or repaving streets, crosswalks, sewers, water lines, parks, libraries, and traffic lights.
There are a number of projects that residents can propose, such as the recently installed HAWK crossing at 58e Street and El Cajon Boulevard, although some major projects, such as water and sewer systems, are almost entirely handled by the city.
When it comes to parks, street renovation and traffic lights, residents can have their say. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting and make more suggestions.
Participants in the Thursday meetings can also receive updates via:
* Representatives of elected officials;
* Community Relations Officer, San Diego Police Department;
* CACC & EACPC planning groups;
* Colina Del Sol Parks and Rec Board;
* Other social organizations;
* PATH El Cerrito Villas – that very tall building on El Cajon Blvd;
* Update of the MidCity Community Plan.
The meeting will be held in the Community Room of the library. Attendees should use the side entrance directly into the Community Room, which can be reached via the walkway in front of the library on the parking lot side. The door will remain open until the meeting time and will be left unlocked in case attendees arrive a little late.
The meetings are hybrid: in person, and via Zoom if you cannot come to the library.
