Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes red, scaly patches of skin. It can be triggered by stress, diet, and other factors. Kardashian first noticed symptoms of psoriasis when she was in her early 20s. She has tried a variety of treatments, including topical creams, oral medications, and phototherapy. She has found that managing her stress and diet has helped to improve her symptoms. In addition to psoriasis, Kardashian’s son also has vitiligo, a skin condition that causes patches of skin to lose their color. Vitiligo is not contagious and is not life-threatening, but it can be difficult to live with. Kardashian has been praised for speaking out about her skin conditions. She has helped to raise awareness of these conditions and has shown others that they are not alone.

Kim Kardashian passed on a skin condition to her son and recently opened up about the journey her family has been on for generations.

According to Page SixThe entertainment icon has struggled with psoriasis for years and suffered an exceptionally severe flare-up just ahead of the 2022 Met Gala.

“It started covering my face, and there was a spot really close to my eye, and it was burning a little bit. I remember that week I had the Met Ball and it was covering my face.” Kardashian searched for answers and discovered that managing the disorder came down to stress and diet.

“Psoriasis broke out all over my body and I got psoriatic arthritis, so I couldn’t really move my hands. I had to go to a rheumatologist who prescribed me a steroid. I was completely panicking. I cut out the meat again and it calmed down. I think I’ve got my stress under control pretty well, so it’s shocking to me.”

Kim isn’t the only Kardashian to struggle with the skin condition. The Skims founder recently revealed that she got it from her mother and passed it on to her son.

“It came from my mother, went to me… and I passed it on in a different form to my son, who has a very mild form of vitiligo.”

Vitiligo, as defined by the Mayo Clinic“occurs when cells that produce melanin die or stop functioning” and “causes patches of skin color.” Kardashian initially didn’t know what the condition was, but did some research and discovered that her genes may have caused the condition.

“I didn’t know anything about it, but it was a blessing to learn more about it and find out where it came from and that it’s hereditary. And to learn more about it and be able to share that (was a blessing).”

The loving mother of four assured the public that her son’s condition is currently ‘under control’, but did not reveal which son (both of whom she shares with her ex-partner) Kanye West) inherited her skin problems (Holy8, or Psalm5).
