IBERIA PARISH, La.KLFY) — The Delta Regional Authority is making one of the largest investments in its history at the Acadiana Regional Airport. The $2 million investment will go toward a development project on the east side of the airport that will see the construction of a 200,000-square-foot air safety maintenance facility. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy noted how important this will be to both the future of Iberia Parish and Acadiana.

“This will increase the number of jobs, and increase the skills of those jobs, which means the people in those jobs will earn more money,” Cassidy said.

With a goal of creating more than 200 jobs in the parish, the Delta Regional Authority’s investment aims to build the economy of Iberia Parish and Louisiana to make it competitive and attractive to people seeking employment.

“We want to create and build more sustainable, resilient communities,” said Chief Administrative Officer for Delta Regional Authority Josh Mcnemar. “The first thing we have to do is make sure people have a job and they can say that here at home.”

Cassidy said the investment will have a lasting impact on the airport’s facilities and new construction will begin in the near future.
