My sister loves watermelons.
In the summer, she buys watermelons almost every week at the supermarket. She cuts the watermelon and serves it, and she really loves preparing food in general.
I’m not a big fan of watermelon though. I don’t really like the taste of it.
So she tries to turn her down in a friendly way.
When she offers it to me, I politely decline.
She says she feels hurt when I don’t eat the watermelon she buys and prepares. She says I’m ungrateful and wasteful.
Her sister involves the rest of the family, but they offer no help.
Our parents agree with her and tell me to just eat the watermelon so I don’t waste food and support her efforts.
I said I feel pressured to eat watermelon, but I also said I’m not a big fan of watermelon.
They kept insisting that I eat the watermelon. They told me not to waste food, that I should support and appreciate my sister, and that it had nutritional value.
She then tries to defend her position.
I repeated that I didn’t want to eat the watermelon because I didn’t like it.
I explained to her that I like mango and my sister doesn’t, so I asked her if she wanted to eat the mango I bought and prepared.
She said she wouldn’t do that because it’s a bit sour and has a strange texture. Watermelon, on the other hand, is the perfect summer fruit because it’s sweet and juicy.
Things didn’t go well.
After 15 minutes of discussion I still refused to eat the watermelon my sister offered me. She and my parents were visibly angry.
So YUCK you didn’t eat the watermelon my sister bought and prepared?
Who would have thought watermelons could be so controversial?
Redditors are sharing their opinions en masse in the comments.
Her sister’s logic doesn’t seem to quite add up.
This Redditor doesn’t mince his words.
Has she ever actually tasted watermelon?
What kind of preparations does she actually make?
She has the right to enjoy all the fruits she wants!
