Officials say a 30-year-old woman was driving a Mercedes on the wrong side of the highway when she collided head-on with a 24-year-old woman driving a Honda.
A third car behind the Honda then crashed into the car.
Two passengers and the driver of the Honda died at the scene from their injuries.
A third passenger in the Honda and the driver of the Mercedes were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital.
Authorities said it was unlikely that impairment was a factor in the crash.
