It’s been a few years since Tesla made any noticeable changes to the Model S and X. However, the company appears to be on the verge of a major refresh for the two oldest vehicles in its lineup.
Ting Louie made the discovery and shared his findings on the Tesla Cybertruck group on Facebook. Ting writes, “This is not a Cybertruck, but it was definitely a Model S.” Ting concludes his comment by asking, “Is a Model S front-end refresh coming?
Alongside his post, Ting shared a photo of the seemingly refreshed Tesla Model S that he spotted out in the wild. If you head over to the Tesla Cybertruck Facebook group where Ting shared the image, you can see a heavily camouflaged sedan crossing an intersection in broad daylight.
Other than the photo and a brief statement confirming that it was definitely a Tesla Model S, Ting didn’t provide many details about his chance encounter.
Even on the photography front, Ting was only able to snap a shot of the front of the seemingly refreshed Model S, so it’s difficult to determine whether this is actually a refreshed Model S based on the photo he shared.
When you analyze the photo, you can see that Ting’s view was obstructed by several trees, a fire hydrant, a person talking on the phone, a trash can, and a traffic light.
Since we can only see a small portion of the vehicle, we can mostly rely on Ting’s words, which confirm without a doubt that this is definitely a Model S.
We can assume Ting knows a thing or two about Tesla vehicles, as he’s a member of a Tesla Cybertruck group on Facebook and specifically referred to the vehicle as a refreshed Model S.
Other evidence that supports Ting’s claim is the partially visible wheels on the vehicle, which look suspiciously like Tesla OEM wheels. These wheels specifically appear to be the new 19-inch Nova wheels that Tesla launched with the refreshed Model 3.
There’s always the chance that another automaker could use Tesla’s wheels to throw off bystanders. But since automakers likely have to test their new vehicles with the same wheels they ship with, that seems unlikely.
What other proof do we have that this is indeed a Tesla Model S refresh?
Another hint that this is a Tesla Model S refresh comes from the design of the headlights. Last year, Tesla launched a major refresh of the smaller Model 3. One of the biggest visual changes that came with that vehicle was a complete redesign of the front fascia and the headlights.
With the Model 3, and especially the performance variant, Tesla has opted for a design that resembles the second-generation Tesla Roadster.

If you look at the alleged refreshed Model S that Ting spotted, you can see that the front fascia and headlights resemble those of the refreshed Model 3 and the second-generation Roadster.
What else could it be but a refresh of the Tesla Model S?
Since this is a Tesla vehicle, the electric vehicle maker has indicated in recent quarters that it is working on “several brand new vehicles, including a lower-cost vehicle.”
Musk reiterated this comment during his recent interview at the X acquisition event, where he confirmed that the second-generation Roadster would definitely have the ability to fly.
Musk also said that the second-generation Roadster will be unveiled next year and that the reveal will be the largest product demonstration ever.
But to get back to the point at hand, during the interview, Musk confirmed that Tesla is working on several yet-to-be-announced vehicles.
That means if the photo we saw isn’t a refreshed Model S, it could be a brand new Tesla we haven’t heard anything about yet.
Other possibilities?
The third category could include other possibilities, as I mentioned above, for example in a brand new vehicle from a completely different car manufacturer being tested on the road.
Based on the headlight and camouflage pattern, some have suggested that the vehicle pictured could be the 2025 Audi A6 E-Tron, the 2027 Polestar 5, or even a BYD Seal.
Since we only saw a small portion of the vehicle, it is difficult to say with certainty which vehicle it is.
However, we will keep you updated as more information on future Tesla vehicles becomes available. Until then, check back at torquenews.com/Tesla for the latest updates.
