Citylight Council Enacts Ordinance to Curb Late-Night NoiseCitylight Council Enacts Ordinance to Curb Late-Night Noise In a bid to address concerns over excessive noise during late-night hours, the Citylight Council has unanimously passed an ordinance imposing restrictions on noise levels. The ordinance, which takes effect immediately, prohibits excessive noise between the hours of 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Excessive noise is defined as any sound that is clearly audible from a distance of 50 feet or more from the source. The ordinance applies to all public and private property within the city limits, including homes, businesses, and vehicles. It prohibits loud music, yelling, construction work, and other activities that could disturb the peace of residents. Exceptions are made for emergencies, public safety activities, and certain permitted events. However, these exceptions are strictly regulated to ensure that noise levels remain within acceptable limits. “We have received numerous complaints from residents about late-night noise that has disrupted their sleep and quality of life,” said Mayor Emily Carter. “This ordinance will provide a much-needed tool for our law enforcement officers to address these concerns.” Residents who violate the ordinance may face fines ranging from $50 to $500 per offense. Repeat offenders may be subject to additional penalties, including community service. The Citylight Council has also established a hotline for residents to report noise violations. Citizens can call the hotline at (555) 555-5555 to report any excessive noise that occurs during the restricted hours. “We encourage all residents to cooperate with this ordinance and to be mindful of their neighbors,” said Councilmember John Smith. “By working together, we can create a more peaceful and livable community for everyone.” The passing of this ordinance demonstrates the Citylight Council’s commitment to addressing the concerns of its residents and improving the quality of life for the entire community.
