Over 70 firefighters fought the blaze for more than four hours, battling intense heat and dangerous conditions. The mission’s sanctuary and other historic buildings were damaged, but the extent of the damage is still being assessed. The mission has a long and storied history, and it holds a special place in the hearts of many San Antonio residents.
