The tournament, featuring four prestigious Boston universities – Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, and Northeastern – ignited intense rivalries and showcased the depth of hockey talent in the region. After two enthralling semi-finals, Northeastern faced off against Boston College in a nail-biting championship match. The Huskies, led by captain and Hobey Baker candidate Aidan McDonough, started the game with a flurry of shots. Their relentless pressure paid off midway through the first period when Tyler Madden deflected a shot past Boston College goaltender Joseph Woll. The Eagles answered back with a goal of their own moments later, but Northeastern maintained a 2-1 advantage heading into the locker room. The second period was a defensive battle, with both teams exchanging scoring chances but failing to find the net. The Huskies’ defense, anchored by senior goalie Cayden Primeau, stood tall, stopping every Boston College attempt. The third period proved to be the most dramatic of all. Northeastern extended their lead to 3-1 early in the frame, but Boston College fought back, scoring two quick goals to tie the game. As the clock ticked down, the intensity reached a fever pitch. With just over three minutes remaining, Northeastern’s Matt Filipe buried a rebound past Woll, giving the Huskies the go-ahead goal. Boston College pulled their goalie for an extra attacker in the closing seconds, but Northeastern held strong, securing a thrilling 4-3 victory. The Husky bench erupted in celebration, while their fans filled the arena with thunderous applause.
