From ethereal projections to interactive installations, the festival offered a myriad of light-based artworks that captivated the senses. One of the highlights was the “Luminaire” installation by Atelier Sisu. Over 4,000 biodegradable lanterns adorned the Inner Harbor’s promenade, casting a warm and inviting glow upon the surrounding waters. Visitors could watch as artists meticulously crafted each lantern by hand, creating a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow. “LightFLEX” by Jason Bruges Studio transformed the city’s skyscrapers into vibrant beacons of color. Using programmable LED lights, the installation allowed visitors to control the colors and patterns displayed on the buildings, creating a dynamic and interactive cityscape. The festival also featured a series of projection mappings, transforming iconic landmarks into breathtaking works of art. At the Pier Six Pavilion, “Luminary” by Studio ARTECHOUSE projected ethereal and otherworldly images onto the building’s exterior, creating an immersive and surreal experience. In addition to the light installations, the festival hosted a variety of live performances, workshops, and food vendors. Visitors enjoyed music, dance, and interactive activities that added to the festive atmosphere. As night fell, the city’s harbor transformed into a shimmering tapestry of light, drawing crowds of all ages to witness the captivating spectacle. The Festival of Illumination illuminated not only the skyline but also the spirit of Baltimore, celebrating creativity, innovation, and the power of light to uplift and inspire.
