The Astros are hopeful that Verlander will be able to start on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers. “We’re just being cautious with him,” Astros manager Dusty Baker said. “He felt something in his calf during his bullpen and we didn’t want to push it.” Verlander has been one of the Astros’ most consistent pitchers this season, going 16-3 with a 1.84 ERA in 25 starts. He is also leading the American League in strikeouts with 185. The Astros will now start Jake Odorizzi against the Angels on Saturday. Odorizzi is 4-3 with a 3.75 ERA in 12 starts this season.
