At approximately 11:30 AM, a lone suspect entered the Wells Fargo branch located on East Broadway Boulevard. Witnesses reported that the suspect wore a black ski mask and brandished a handgun. The suspect forced the employees to open the vault and proceeded to fill a duffel bag with cash. The amount stolen is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. “It was terrifying,” said an employee who witnessed the heist. “He just came in and pointed the gun at us. We had no choice but to do what he said.” After securing the cash, the suspect fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. Witnesses described the getaway car as a silver sedan, possibly a Honda Accord. The Tucson Police Department is currently investigating the incident and has released surveillance footage of the suspect. The footage shows a tall, thin individual wearing a black mask and gloves. “We are asking the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of this dangerous individual,” said Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus. The public is urged to report any suspicious activity or individuals matching the description of the suspect. A reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s capture. This robbery has left the community on edge, fearing that the masked bandit may strike again.
