Drunk Man Targets Police Patrol Car with Stones Near Charminar
Hyderabad police arrested a drunk man on Tuesday night for allegedly pelting stones at a police patrol car near the iconic Charminar monument. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM when a police patrol vehicle was passing through the area. The accused, identified as 25-year-old Mohammed Salman, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and started throwing stones at the vehicle. The stones hurled at the police car caused significant damage to its windshield and side window. The police officers inside the vehicle were uninjured. Salman was immediately apprehended and taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of several empty liquor bottles. “The accused was in an inebriated state and admitted to throwing stones at the police vehicle,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Charminar, G. Srinivas. Salman has been charged with rioting, mischief, and endangering the lives of public servants. He has been remanded to judicial custody. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of police officers in the city. Police Commissioner CV Anand has ordered increased patrolling and surveillance in the area. “We will not tolerate any acts of violence or disrespect towards our police force,” said Anand. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of both our officers and the public.” The Charminar, a historical and cultural landmark in Hyderabad, is a popular tourist destination.
