The extension will add approximately 2.5 miles of trolley route, servicing key areas along Westshore Boulevard and providing convenient access to the mall for shoppers, residents, and visitors. The trolley will run every 15 minutes during peak hours and offer free Wi-Fi service. “We are thrilled to extend our trolley system to Westshore Mall,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. “This expansion will enhance mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and provide a sustainable transportation option for our residents and visitors.” The trolley extension is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve connectivity and accessibility throughout Tampa. It will facilitate convenient access to Westshore Mall, which houses over 150 stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. “We welcome the addition of the trolley service to Westshore Mall,” said Mark Berg, General Manager of Westshore Mall. “It will provide our shoppers, employees, and customers with a reliable and environmentally friendly transportation option.” The trolley extension is expected to increase ridership on the system and reduce traffic congestion in the Westshore area. It will also connect with other transportation services, such as HARTline buses and the Tampa Bay Area Rapid Transit (TBARTA) system, which is currently under construction. The Westshore Trolley extension project was funded through a combination of federal, state, and local funds. It is part of the city’s long-term goal of creating a comprehensive, efficient, and sustainable transportation network for Tampa.
