According to the Henry County Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Tara Boulevard near the intersection of Buffington Road. Witnesses reported that a black pickup truck swerved off the road and struck a 40-year-old male pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk. The victim was thrown plusieurs feet and suffered multiple injuries. The driver of the pickup truck did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. Officers pursued the vehicle but were unable to locate it. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown. The incident occurred on June 9th around 12:30 a.m. in Spiceland. Deputies apprehended Swinehart as he was returning to the scene at the request of his father. They reported that Swinehart smelled of alcohol and exhibited signs of intoxication. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol level to be 0.146, significantly above the legal limit of 0.08. The victim, a woman from Spiceland, was taken to Henry County Hospital for treatment of head and arm injuries. Swinehart faces felony charges for leaving the scene and driving while intoxicated. He is currently being held in the Henry County Jail on an $8,000 bond and a $900 cash bond. His trial is scheduled for October 28th. In addition to these charges, Swinehart is also facing a charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery from an incident in February 2003. He had reportedly entered a plea agreement in that case and was expected to plead guilty on July 28th. Swinehart also has pending misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and illegal consumption of alcohol from an incident in August.A pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Henry County Saturday night, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, identified as 52-year-old John Doe, was transported to a local hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored sedan fleeing the scene after the accident. The vehicle is described as having a shattered windshield and damage to the front end.
