Taylor Swift to Dick Cheney: Tim Walz thanks Kamala Harris fans

In his closing statement during the vice presidential debate, Tim Walz noted that the group did not agree on everything.

In September, right after the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, Taylor Swift announced that she planned to vote for Harris.

Swifties saw many of their predictions for the final leg of Swift’s “Eras Tour” come true during the weekend’s Miami performances, including the final rainy performance of the tour, a surprise visit from Florence Welch and a new wardrobe for Swift.

However, one prediction that did not come true was the suspicion that Harris herself would appear or be mentioned at one of the three concerts Swift played in Trump’s home state last weekend. One of these concerts even took place on Harris’ birthday, giving fans more input into their theory.

Harris didn’t show up at the concert and Swift didn’t mention the election, but Swifties are still expected to show up in full force in the polls this election season. Last week (on the day of Swift’s first concert in Miami), the DNC announced that it was launching a Swift-inspired campaign for young voters, featuring a new Snapchat filter and ads targeting IWillVote.com

Here’s what we know about Swift’s ties to the election and what to know about the DNC’s new campaign targeting Swifties.

Did Kamala Harris appear on the “Eras Tour”? NO. Here’s why fans thought so

Swifties thought Harris might appear on the show because Swift had endorsed the vice president just a few weeks earlier and because Taylor’s last appearance in Miami was on Harris’ 60th birthday (Sunday, October 20).

Following the September presidential date between Harris and former President Donald Trump, Swift posted on Instagram saying she was voting for Harris.

“I will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election.” Swift told her more than 283 million followers. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because he fights for rights and makes me believe we need a warrior to defend them. I think she is a strong, talented leader and I believe we can achieve much more in this country if we are led by peace and not chaos.”

What is “In My Voting Age” about? What to know about the new DNC Swiftie-forward campaign

Last week, on the day of Swift’s first concert in Miami, the DNC announced a new Taylor Swift-inspired “I Will Vote” campaign.

“Today, with Taylor Swift set to perform in Miami, the DNC launched an ‘I Will Vote’ campaign inspired by Taylor Swift, targeting young voters in every battleground state,” the DNC said in a statement.

“The campaign includes a new, exclusive Snapchat filter that urges young voters to “be fearless” on the issues that will decide this election – from reproductive rights to economic opportunity – and visit IWillVote.com to learn how to vote for vice president Harris this November.”

While Harris didn’t attend Swift’s Miami concerts in person, she was certainly there in spirit – the campaign announcement said there was a “mobile billboard(s) throughout Miami” on a boat near Swift’s Miami concert venue.

How to use Kamala Harris’ Taylor Swift-inspired “In My Voting Age” filter on Snapchat

It’s unclear how Snapchat users can find the filter. Searches such as “fearless”, “voting”, “voting era”, “DNC”, “Taylor Swift”, “I will vote” and “Kamala” in Snapchat’s filter search tool did not show any results indicating the filter the DNC promotes.

If you find a filter, it contains text that you can customize. At the top it says “In My Voting Era” and then a filled-in blank section for users to use, which the DNC announcement says looks something like this:

Don’t be afraid ________________ (Users can click)

  • Democracy
  • Reproductive rights
  • Climate action
  • Student loan repayment relief
  • Healthcare
  • Racial justice
  • LGBTQ+ rights
  • Economic opportunity
  • Equality

“And a reminder to vote Democrat with a link to IWillVote.com at the bottom of the page,” the statement said.
