Aston Villa inquires about Luca Pellegrini
Aston Villa have made contact to sign Lazio left-back Luca Pellegrini from La Lazio Siamo Noi, according to La Repubblica.
Pellegrini was hired from Juventus last summer with an obligation to buy, but could still leave this summer.
West Ham have also asked Lazio for information on his availability, but with Champions Legaue football on the horizon, Villa are expected to be the favorites in that battle.
The Italy international, who according to Breaking The Lines has ‘incredible speed’, made just eight league starts last season while playing in place of Igor Tudor.
Luca Pellegrini can be an integral part of Lazoi next season
Following Maurcio Sarri’s departure from Lazio, Pellegrini is expected to be a key member of Marco Baroni’s squad.
That could throw a spanner in the works for Villa, who may have to pay a premium to convince the Serie A club to sell.
Perhaps they should look elsewhere for a younger full-back who can play as a back-up to Ian Maatsen. Harrison Burrows, 22, of Peterborough United should be a name to consider.
That includes Luton Town’s Alfie Doughty, who is likely keen to return to the Premier League after a productive season.
