The collision involved a van from the prestigious Millbrook resort and village, and a car. According to Murray Forward, Chief of the Arrowtown Volunteer Fire Department, the crash occurred on Malaghans Road in Dalefield, leading to the road’s closure between Dalefield Road and Hunter Road for several hours. Emergency services responded swiftly at around 10 p.m., with police confirming the two fatalities at the scene. Hato Hone St John deployed three ambulances and a helicopter, where paramedics assessed and treated six patients. One was in moderate condition and four others were classified as having minor injuries. All were transported to Lakes District Hospital. Brian Howie, Millbrook operations manager, verified that a Millbrook van was involved in the crash, but declined to provide further information. The Serious Crash Unit has commenced an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. New Zealand Fire and Emergency Services from Arrowtown, Frankton, and Queenstown were also on the scene.

Two people were killed and five injured in a horror crash near Queenstown last night.

The two-vehicle collision involved a van from the luxury Millbrook resort and village and a car.

Murray Forward, chief of the Arrowtown Volunteer Fire Department, confirmed the deaths this morning.

The accident happened on Malaghans Rd in Dalefield. This road remained closed between Dalefield Rd and Hunter Rd until around midday.

A police spokesperson reported that emergency services were alerted around 10 p.m. and that two people had died at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Hato Hone St John said they responded to the crash with three ambulances and a helicopter.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient in a moderate condition, and four patients in a mild condition; all were transported by road to Lakes District Hospital.”

Millbrook operations manager Brian Howie confirmed that a Millbrook van was involved in the crash.

He confirmed that no one in the van was killed in the crash, but would not comment further.

Police said this afternoon that the Serious Crash Unit had carried out an examination of the crash scene and that inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were continuing.

New Zealand Fire and Emergency Services from Arrowtown, Frankton and Queenstown were also in attendance.
