NCERT Textbooks for Class 6 DelayedNCERT Textbooks for Class 6 Delayed Nagpur schools are awaiting the revised National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks for class 6. The textbooks are being republished due to curriculum changes, but their availability has been delayed. In April, NCERT informed CBSE and education secretaries that new textbooks would be available by mid-May. However, as the academic year has commenced, schools have yet to receive the physical textbooks. As a temporary measure, NCERT has uploaded a bridge course on its portal to facilitate teaching. Booksellers have confirmed that the new textbooks have not been released. School principals have expressed concern about the delay, particularly as textbooks are not available online or in stores. They have also cautioned parents against purchasing unauthorized textbooks from private publishers or fly-by-night printers. The delay in textbook availability has hindered the implementation of the revised curriculum, potentially affecting students’ learning experiences. Schools are currently relying on the bridge course to bridge the gap until the textbooks are made available.

Nagpur: Schools are waiting for the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks for class 6, which are being republished due to a change in the curriculum. Though the academic year has begun, due to the unavailability of books, schools are using the bridge course offered online by NCERT. In April, NCERT had written to CBSE and education secretaries of all states and UTs updating the curriculum for class 6. The letter stated that NCERT would release new textbooks for class 6 for the academic year 2024-25 and that the books would be available by mid-May. To help teachers prepare students for the new course, NCERT has uploaded a bridge course on its portal. Anuj Jain, owner of Vijay Book Depot, said, “The new NCERT textbooks for class 6 have not been released yet. We do not know when they will be available. Hence, the online bridge course will continue to be used.” A principal of CBSE said that it is shocking that there has been such a delay. “Textbooks for class 6 are not available either online or offline. We are still waiting for details on this,” she said. I checked the NCERT website and the books for the classes are available for free download. However, for class 6, the science book was marked “revised in November 2022”. Another principal said, “It is the same for all subjects. Some parents told me that they have managed to get the new books, but it seems that they are from some private publishers and that must be a longer version of the bridge course. Although I have not seen the books yet, it is unfortunate that some private publishers or fly-by-night printers are fooling parents.”
