The Nigerian Army on Thursday took delivery of two helicopter gunships to activate its aviation wing and boost the fight against insurgency.
The two helicopters, Bell UH1-H, arrived at the NAF Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 4:40pm and were received by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
The two helicopters are expected to operationalize the Nigerian Army Air Force and provide close air support to ground troops, thereby reducing response time.
