According to police, 27-year-old Rhyce Harding exited his vehicle following a confrontation with the other driver, a 39-year-old white male. The suspect allegedly struck Harding and dragged him approximately 100 meters along the road. The Victim Harding, a landscaper, was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends and family described him as a kind and humble individual. World Gym in Marsden Park, where Harding was a member, expressed their condolences and shared memories of his dedication to fitness. The Suspect The suspect later turned himself in to the Mount Druitt police station and was charged with manslaughter, failure to stop and render aid after a collision with a fatal outcome, careless driving (with a fatal outcome), and dangerous driving with a fatal outcome. He was denied bail and will appear in court on Saturday. The Aftermath Police have seized a white Toyota Hilux from the nearby suburb of Windsor, which will undergo forensic examination. Acting Inspector Shane Ranee suspects that the incident was sparked by road rage. Police are still investigating the circumstances and whether the victim and suspect knew each other prior to the confrontation.
A man has been charged over an alleged road rage incident that left another driver dead. Friends of the young driver remember his friendly and modest character.
Rhyce Harding, 27, was reportedly struck by a white man after getting out of his car in Sydney’s west and was likely dragged about 100 metres along the road before falling to the ground, police said.
Emergency services were called to Jersey Road near Blackett on Thursday morning after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.
He died on the spot while being treated by ambulance personnel.
The other driver left the area.
A 39-year-old man attended Mount Druitt police station and was arrested around 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
On Friday afternoon he was charged with manslaughter, failure to stop and render aid after a collision with a fatal outcome, careless driving (with a fatal outcome) and dangerous driving with a fatal outcome.
He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
A white Toyota Hilux has been seized in the nearby suburb of Windsor and will undergo forensic examination.
Tributes are pouring in for Mr Harding, who ran a landscaping business.
World Gym in Marsden Park said staff and members were heartbroken to hear of the passing of “one of our much loved members”.
“Rhyce was a beloved member of our club who will always be remembered for his kindness, humility and dedication to his training,” the club said in a Facebook post on Friday.
According to Acting Inspector Shane Ranee, the incident likely followed a confrontation that arose due to road rage.
“Words were said and that led us to believe it could have happened as a result of a traffic accident,” he said Thursday.
Police did not know if the victim and the other driver knew each other before the incident.
