The incident occurred on Sunday evening around 11:30 PM on the northbound lanes of the I-45 North Freeway near Quitman Street. According to Houston police, the driver of a Chevy Cruze lost control and crashed into a wall. The vehicle then bounced back into the main lane, where it was struck by a tow truck driver. The driver of the Chevy was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The tow truck driver sustained no serious injuries. Investigators suspect that the deceased driver may have been drinking. The investigation is ongoing. HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A driver suspected of DWI has died after losing control and crashing into a wall in North Houston, according to police.
The crash happened just after 11:30 PM on Sunday evening in the northbound lanes of the I-45 North Freeway, near Quitman Street.
Houston police said the driver of a Chevy Cruze lost control and crashed into a wall. The vehicle then bounced back into the main lane, where it was struck by a tow truck driver.
The driver of the Chevy was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say the tow truck driver did not suffer any serious injuries.
Investigators believe the driver who died may have been drinking. The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
While investigating the crash, an officer blocking the driveway was struck by another intoxicated driver, police said.
The officer and driver were not injured.
