Jacob Pruitt, a right-handed pitcher from Indiana State, has signed with the Diamond Dawgs. Pruitt struggled with injuries last season but showed promise in his limited appearances. In 13 games, including five starts, he pitched 41.2 innings with a 3-2 record and one save. He had a 3.02 ERA, 57 strikeouts, and 23 walks while holding opponents to a .232 batting average. Pruitt has the potential to be a weekend starter for Mississippi State in 2025. He has a strong arm and good control, and he has shown the ability to get strikeouts. The Diamond Dawgs have several starting pitching roles up for grabs next season, and Pruitt is a strong candidate to fill one of those spots. Pruitt’s addition is a significant boost to Mississippi State’s transfer class. The Bulldogs have now signed several highly-rated transfers in an offseason where they needed to add talent to their roster. Their current transfer class is in a good position, and if they can add a few more quality starters, they will have successfully reloaded their roster for the 2025 season.

Pruitt had a 3.02 ERA with 57 strikeouts and 23 walks. His batting average allowed was .232 and his WHIP was 1.42.
Jacob Pruitt has a chance to be a weekend starter for the Diamond Dawgs in 2025. He started off great for the Sycamores last season before getting injured. Mississippi State has multiple starting pitching roles up for grabs next season, and at his best, Pruitt is definitely good enough to take one of those jobs.
It wasn’t too long ago that many Bulldog fans were concerned about the direction State baseball’s portal class was headed. There’s no getting around the fact that there wasn’t much momentum when it came to bringing in players from the transfer portal.
But now, after the arrival of Ace Reese from Houston and Jacob Pruitt, things are suddenly going better.
Really like what @HailStateBB is doing in the portal this summer. Jacob Pruitt is a big arm and will help the Bulldogs tremendously. https://t.co/LRiwZF14ZU
