Kenny McInnes, who will coach the DFC Ladies, said that the team is excited to represent Dumbarton Football Club and raise the profile of girls’ and women’s football in the region. He also mentioned that there are many talented girls playing in the area, and he looks forward to showcasing their skills under the DFC flag.

Dumbarton Football Club is proud to announce the launch of a women’s team ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The news was announced last night during the open training session at Dumbarton Football Stadium, where the players were invited onto the pitch and welcomed to the club.

The team played under the banner of Dumbarton United in the SWFL West last season, finishing seventh in the division.

Last night, club chairman Neil Mackay said: “We see this as another positive step in terms of our involvement with the local community and the progress we are making as a football club.

“We are extremely grateful for the hard work of everyone who made this possible, including Gordon Scanlan and Kenny McInnes.

“It is vital that girls and women in the region are given the opportunity to play football, from grassroots to the highest level, and we are delighted to welcome them to the DFC family.”

DFC Ladies Coach Kenny McInnes said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to come on board and represent Dumbarton Football Club.

“It is a great opportunity to raise the profile of girls’ and women’s football in the region.

“There are a lot of talented girls playing in the region and we look forward to showcasing this under the DFC flag.”

The team plays its home games during the season on Sunday afternoons at East End Park.
