The state government on Friday ordered the premature retirement of three Class 1 police officers on charges of irregularities, effective from Friday
So far, the government has taken action against four officers under its zero-tolerance policy on corruption. On June 26, JJ Pandya, Class-1 officer and superintendent engineer at Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL), was prematurely dismissed on charges of causing financial loss to the government.
Among those being prosecuted is GAS SJ Pandya, deputy director of planning at SPIPA in Ahmedabad. Four departmental investigation cases, besides a police case, have been filed against him. One case was filed in 2001, one in 2003 and two were filed two days ago.
The department’s investigations and the FIR against him will continue. The FIR against Pandya was filed at Dahod Police Station A on November 10, 2023. The chargesheet was subsequently filed and transferred to the General Administrative Department on July 3 this year.
Besides SJ Pandya, two deputy commissioners of the state revenue department, DP Neta and SH Gandhi, have also been ordered to take early retirement. Gandhi will be in Surat and Neta will be in Ahmedabad and suspended. After their early retirement, the investigations will continue.
