She took to Instagram to share her gratitude for this milestone. Madonna expressed her happiness and reflected on her health journey. She recalled barely being able to stand in her backyard with a sparkler last year after being discharged from the hospital. She praised God for her remarkable recovery and the amazing year she had since. In late June 2023, Madonna was hospitalized due to a serious bacterial infection. Her manager described the situation as life-threatening, and she was placed in an induced coma for four days. This resulted in the postponement of her Celebration tour until last October. Speaking about her near-death experience, Madonna shared that she was initially unaware of the severity of her condition. Upon waking up from the coma, her first word was “No.” She speculated that God had offered her the choice to pass on, but she declined. Despite her health crisis, Madonna has faced legal challenges related to her Celebration tour. Concertgoers have filed lawsuits against her and promoter Live Nation for delayed start times. However, the first lawsuit filed in Brooklyn was dismissed last month. As Madonna celebrated this anniversary, she expressed her appreciation for life and her gratitude for her recovery. She encouraged others to cherish every moment and live life to its fullest.

Madonna celebrated one year since she overcame a life-threatening illness for her Fourth of July. On Instagram, she reflected on her “miraculous recovery” from a serious infection that left her hospitalized.

“Happy 4th of July! One year ago today I just got home from the hospital after surviving a life threatening illness. I could barely stand in my backyard with one sparkler in my hand,” the singer wrote on Friday. “I have made a miraculous recovery and have had an amazing year. Thank you God. Life is beautiful!”

Madonna spent several days in intensive care in late June 2023 due to what her manager Guy Oseary described at the time as “a serious bacterial infection.” She was placed in an induced coma for four days, which put her Celebration tour on hold for several months until last October.

“It’s called a near-death experience, and I’m not kidding, it was pretty scary,” the singer told a crowd of fans at a concert in Los Angeles last March. “Of course, I didn’t know for four days because I was in a medically induced coma, but when I woke up, the first word I said was, ‘No.’ Anyway, that’s what my assistant tells me.”

“I’m pretty sure God said to me, ‘Do you want to come? Do you want to come with us, do you want to go this way?’” she told the crowd. “And I said, ‘No!’”

Since the health crisis, Madonna has faced a handful of lawsuits stemming from her Celebration tour. Concertgoers at various dates have sued her and promoter Live Nation over the past few months over delayed start times. The plaintiffs alleged that she started hours after the advertised start time, which they said was false advertising. The first lawsuit, filed by two attendees of her Brooklyn show, was dismissed last month.
