According to police, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when a child walking on the sidewalk was hit by a passing vehicle. The child was immediately taken to nearby Morton Hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of their injuries, the child was subsequently airlifted to a Boston-area hospital for further medical attention. Their current condition is unknown. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident and is cooperating with authorities. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
