Major Highways Improvement Scheme to Commence in Newcastle, StaffordshireMajor Highways Improvement Scheme to Commence in Newcastle, Staffordshire A £285,000 highways improvement scheme is set to begin in Newcastle, Staffordshire, this week. The project is part of a wider £50 million investment in the county’s roads over the next three years. The work on the A525 Higherland is expected to take approximately six weeks and will involve resurfacing, repairs, and replacement of damaged kerbs and drainage. Mark Deaville, Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways at Staffordshire County Council, emphasized the importance of good roads for residents and the local economy. He stated, “This is a busy part of the town and a well-used section of road in need of an upgrade, so it’s great to see crews getting started on the work.” To minimize disruption, some of the works will take place during the school holidays and resurfacing will be carried out overnight when traffic is lighter. However, delays are anticipated during the construction period, and the public’s patience is requested. The scheme is part of a larger investment in Staffordshire’s road infrastructure, with the aim of improving safety and connectivity across the county.
